Instagram Adds Support for Landscape Videos in IGTV

By |2.8 min read|

Facebook and Instagram are the two applications that can be found in everyone’s mobile and if you talk about the famous bloggers and influencers of the Instagram, they can never say no to Instagram as it has become their platform for the content creation.

To make sure that people have a proper platform to upload their video content, last year Instagram launched a new feature or we may say an application known as IGTV which allowed the users to make, edit, and upload their content on it. Many people even went on to make their own IGTV channel which helped them gain Instagram followers.

The IGTV when got launched started with the vertical video formation but with time and changing preferences of the users, Instagram has updated the IGTV and now it allows the users to upload video in a landscape dimension. This new update as added a lot of support.

This shows that after one year of their IGTV launch, they are now enabling the content creators to upload the videos in the landscape position as the experimenting with vertical videos is now off. According to the developers and owners of Instagram, they launched this new update upon the demand of the content creators and said that they asked for this change.

However, this does not mean that vertical video option is gone as the content creators will have both options to choose from and they can upload the content as they like and the followers can watch the content in whatever position they like.

According to the Instagram, vertical video position is a good option for the people who want to connect with their audience and just talk about the things. On the other hand, landscape videos will be a good option for people who upload tutorials, dance videos, and sports; basically the type of videos that have high motion.

But you must not confuse the monetization on IGTV Views with the YouTube as the Instagram is not yet allowing it and brands or companies have not started to pay the content to make any type of videos or other content. People who are looking for the monetization part will have to wait a little bit as there are no chances of monetization just yet.

Commenting on this, Instagram said:

“We realize this is an evolution from where IGTV started – we believe it’s the right change for viewers and creators. In many ways, opening IGTV to more than just vertical videos is similar to when we opened Instagram to more than just square photos in 2015. It enabled creativity to flourish and engagement to rise – and we believe the same will happen again with IGTV.

We want to say thank you to all the creators who are building meaningful, strong, and diverse communities and helping create the future of TV on mobile. This is just the beginning. We’ll continue to evolve to not only help you grow your communities but build your businesses across IGTV and Instagram.”
